THE organisation responsible for mental health services in Medway has launched a campaign to become a Foundation Trust.

Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Trust says Foundation status will give local people a bigger say in how mental health services are run.

It plans to work more closely with businesses to try and overcome the stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness by employers.

The Trust is to hold a series of consultation meetings to outline the benefits of the change to people. One of these will be at the Civic Centre, Strood, next Wednesday January 16, starting at 6pm.

Foundation Trust project director Robert Knibbs said: “We want to see as many people as possible sign up as members of the new Trust, and really have a say in how services are delivered.
