Tricksters spark another bogus caller alert

AN ELDERLY man has become the latest victim of a spate of bogus callers to hit Medway.

Two men called at at house in Cambria Avenue, Rochester, pretending to be members of a housing association. They said they needed to check the electrical cables.

After the men had left, the elderly victim discovered that £100 had been taken from his wallet.

One of the bogus callers is described as white, aged between 40 and 45 and heavily built. He is believed to be about 5ft 8ins with light brown hair.

Det Con Jon Stevens said: "If they have any concerns about the identity of someone calling at their home, they should contact the company the caller states they are from, using a number in the phone book. Any genuine caller should be more than happy to wait for you to verify their identification."

Anyone with information relating to this incident, which took place on November 29 during the afternoon, they should contact Medway Police on 01634 884136.
