A 14-year-old boy died after he was hit by a car yesterday.

The Met Police, who are investigating, have not yet named the teenager, but yesterday friends of Kaine May set up a Facebook tribute page, which has already attracted hundreds of messages.

The popular teenager had several friends in Dartford and north Kent and spent Saturday with friends at Bluewater shopping centre.

Kaine attended Kemnal College in Sidcup and the accident happened on the A20 Sidcup bypass, close to Flamingo Park. He was struck by a black Honda Accord.

An appeal for information has been launched by the Met Police’s Road Death Investigation Unit, who were called to the scene around 3.45pm.

Crews from the London Ambulance Service were first on the scene, but the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the black Civic, a 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He has been bailed to return to a south London police station in October.

Witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to call the Road Death Investigation Unit on 020 8285 1574, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
