Trampoline club without a home

PARENTS of a keen trampolinist have issued a plea for help to save their daughter's club from an uncertain future.

Amy Couchman, seven, of Dimmock Close, Paddock Wood, has a promising future in the sport but her prospects could be jeopardised if the Kent Komets trampoline club cannot find a new home.

The club has been based for the last three years at the YMCA Sports Centre, Cripple Street, Loose, Maidstone. But the centre closes this week leaving the club's 100 members without a base.

Amy's parents Paul, 35 and Julie, 33, who help out at the club, said they believed their daughter, who came first in the South East Regional Schools Trampoline Competition - but needed to continue her training.

Coach Sarah Timson, 27, said the group, which has a wide age range, needed a home with a high roof, which was difficult to find. They also need trampolines, as the YMCA owns the ones they use.

On Saturday, Amy will travel to Burgess Hill, West Sussex, to represent the South East in the final of the British Schools' Gymnastic Association Competitions.
