Train named after Olympic champion Jamie

The cyclist won gold in the men’s team sprint at the 2008
Olympics in Beijing.

Since then he has regularly returned to his home town for
engagements, mainly to promote cycling events and initiatives.

In July he was presented with an MBE by the Queen at Buckingham
Palace for services to sport.

The other high speed trains will be named after athletes, chosen
through a public vote:

Steve Backley, double silver Olympic
medalist

Sir Steve Redgrave, five time Olympic gold
medalist

Rebecca Adlington, double Beijing gold
medalist

Chris Hoy, triple Beijing gold medalist

Ben Ainslie, triple gold and silver Olympic
medalist

Daley Thompson, double gold Olympic medalist

Duncan Goodhew, Olympic gold medalist

Katherine Grainger, triple Olympic silver
medalist

Lord Sebastian Coe, double Olympic gold
medalist

Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson, 11 gold Para-Olympic
