Train driver's death: motorist charged

A MOTORIST hasa been charged in connection with the death of a train driver at Dymchurch, near Hythe, last summer (Jo Robertson writes).

Marie Scrace, 22, of Dengemarsh Road, Lydd, was charged at Folkestone Police Station with causing death by dangerous driving. She will appear before Folkestone magistrates next week.

Kevin Crouch, 31, who lived in south east London, was killed when the engine Hercules, which was travelling from the Hythe station towards the Dymchurch halt on Sunday, August 3, crashed into a car and was derailed together with the coal cart and the first carriage which jackknifed across the track.

The Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway enthusiast was trapped in his cab and had to be freed by firefighters, but he died at the scene.
