KENT Police are appealing for witnesses after a young man died by the roadside following an horrific crash.

The 22-year-old man's red Ford Escort left the road and smashed into a tree in College Road at Ramsgate.

Police say he lost control of the car as it rounded a bend at about 4.25pm on Sunday.

The driver, who has not yet been formally identified, was the only occupant of the car. No other vehicles were involved.

Anyone with information is asked to contact officers from Kent Police's serious collision investigation unit, telephone 01622 79853.
