Three cars torched in an hour

THREE vehicles were set on fire within an hour in Strood in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The first was a red Maestro in Canal Road at 3.30am - the third abandoned car to be set alight in that road in a week - and the second a red Vauxhall Cavalier in Martin Road. While firefighters arrived they saw smoke coming over the roofs of houses and found a green and white Volkswagen camper van on fire in nearby Cliffe Road.

Sub-officer Alan Monk from Strood fire station said: "It looks like it was someone playing games on their walk home from a night out."
