Thirty-two drivers stopped for speeding

Medway police have completed a successful high visibility anti-speeding campaign in the more rural boundaries of the area.

A team of officers from the Professional Development Unit (PDU) carried out a four hour road check at Otterham Quay Lane on the outskirts of Rainham on Monday, November 17.

Thirty-two drivers were stopped for speeding with most being issued with a £60 fixed penalty notice and 3 points on their licence.

One other driver admitted to driving a car with no insurance and no MOT.

Chief Insp Iain Mackenzie said: "I would warn motorists to think about the consequences of committing an offence.

"At best you risk a fine, mandatory ban for one or more years or an increase in insurance premiums. At worst you risk losing your job or going to jail.

"We want to work with motorists, not against them. We want them to drive safely, go home to their loved ones unharmed and for other road users to do the same.

"Operations such as this will help to reassure residents who have expressed concerns over speeding vehicles that Kent Police in Medway take those concerns seriously.’
