Thieves drive off with caravans

CARAVANS and motor homes valued at almost £100,000 have been stolen in a series of thefts from a caravan park.

Five were towed or driven away from the Two Chimneys site at Birchington in the early hours of Thursday, August 26, and another was towed out by a dark car using false number plates at about 2.30pm on Wednesday, September 1.

Police say in the first spate of thefts, the caravans were hitched up to motor homes in the compound and driven off together, with a further caravan being towed out by a black car.

Extensive enquiries have been carried out so far and CCTV footage covering routes out of Thanet are being examined.

Anyone with information is asked to contact investigating officer DC Pip Harvey on 01843 222146.
