There's no pressure on us, says Blue Square Bet South title-chasing Welling United boss Jamie Day

Welling boss Jamie Day has urged his team to relax as the Blue Square Bet South season reaches its climax.

The Wings are two points clear of Salisbury with three games in hand but they needed an injury-time goal to see of Maidenhead last Saturday following a nervy display at Park View Road.

"We didn't play well for long periods," said Day (pictured), whose closest rivals for the title may yet emerge from the chasing pack after Salisbury's run of form has seen them pocket five points in seven games.

"There will be twists and turns to come. We'll give it our best and see where it gets us but there's no pressure on us.

"There are going to be ups and downs and Maidenhead deserved to take the lead last Saturday as we weren't at the races - we looked nervous.

"We're trying to keep the boys relaxed but it's difficult. We need to worry about ourselves, not let things outside of that get to us, and pass and keep the ball better."

Welling entertain Basingstoke on Saturday at Park View Road before hosting Tonbridge on Tuesday night.
