Barrie 'Swampy’ Ridley beat 80,000 people to make it onto Channel 4’s hit show Shipwrecked. In this weekly column, he shares his experiences.

Sunday was the second to last episode of Shipwrecked 2008 and was definitely one of the most exciting.

The third island Hawks no longer exist as all 13 of them are now classed as new arrivals, and in two boats – one full of the girls and one of the boys – they have headed back to Shark and Tiger islands.

Shark get the girls first and the Tigers the boys, then half way through the week they swapped as with any new arrivals.

Barrie said: “It was very exciting when the Hawks came back and watching the episode was amazing.

“I remember how great it felt to see all their faces again and realise they didn’t actually go home.”

The Sharks felt confident that their few days with the Hawk girls had gone well and that many of them may choose their island when it came to the final beach party.

But then it all went wrong when they were sitting round the table just before the girls were about to leave.

Danny announced that he felt the Sharks deserve to win more than the Tigers and how important it was to them, and it was clear from some of the Hawks’ faces they weren’t too impressed.

Barrie said: “Danny was digging himself more and more into a hole and we could all see the look on the Hawks’ faces.

“Through the whole competition for us it hasn’t been about winning but then Danny saying that made us look really desperate.

“The Hawks picked up on the fact that all the Sharks were not impressed.”

The episode also showed tension on laddy Tiger island, when Ricky arranged a football match to impress all the boys.

It worked for most of the lads but Joseph, who is not into football, didn’t enjoy himself and was left feeling quite lonely, so when the two groups swapped over, the Sharks felt pretty confident Joseph would choose them.

The episode ended on a cliff hanger with all the Hawks clearly thinking very hard about which island they would choose.

Barrie still wasn’t giving away any clues on who has won Shipwrecked 2008, so you will need to tune in to the final this Sunday to find out whether it’s the Sharks or Tigers who are victorious.
