A driver clambered from this £40,000 BMW after it ploughed into a stream near Herne Bay.

The man miraculously escaped unhurt after veering off the road and into 5ft of water.

A gadget in the car alerted police, who arrived to find it submerged in North Stream, Marshside.

The driver had managed to get out of the 59-plate car, worth about £40,000.

The vehicle had sent an automatic emergency call with details of its whereabouts on Tuesday night.

Stewart Tophill, 36, who lives in North Stream, passed the car in the water.

He said: "I thought, that's an X6 - that's a nice car.

"But this is the third time this has happened in the last year already. It's mental."
