Three people were lucky to be alive after a 10 tonne JCB toppled over - crushing a car.

The crane driver was trapped in the cab for a couple of hours, and both occupants of the Mercedes car had a narrow escape.

Police were called shortly before 9am Monday to an accident at St Michael’s Drive, Otford.

An agricultural JCB with a crane had overturned and struck the Mercedes, leaving the crane driver trapped in the cab.

Luckily both occupants in the Mercedes escaped unharmed.

Rescuers managed to free the trapped man shortly before 11am, when he was taken to hospital in London by air ambulance. He is believed to have serious injuries.

The road was closed at the junctions with Rowdow and Pilgrims Way until just after 11am, with heavy lifting equipment needed to move the JCB.
