Teens arrested after rape in park claim

Two teenagers were arrested following an allegation of rape in a Ramsgate park on Saturday.

An 18-year-old woman walked into the town police station and told officers she had been sexually assaulted by two men in Coleman Park at around 2am.

Christopher Palmer, 18, of Nixon Avenue, Ramsgate, was arrested close to his home at around 3.30pm that afternoon.

He has since been charged with rape and was due to appear before magistrates in Margate today.

A 15-year-old boy arrested at the same time has been bailed, pending further inquiries, until Wednesday, May 13.

Bail conditions mean the youngster must live outside the Ramsgate area until then.
