A TEENAGER who stabbed a man in the head with a screwdriver in a town centre has admitted manslaughter.

Darrell McLeish, 19, attacked David Rodway, 29, with the 9cm blade during a street fight in East Street, Bromley, in May.

Mr Rodway, from Orpington, had been on a night out with his girlfriend, his brother and another friend, when an argument flared up with a group of young men outside the Walkabout pub.

Minutes later, McLeish crossed the road to stab a screwdriver into Mr Rodway’s head as Mr Rodway tried to save his brother from attack.

He died from his injuries at the Princess Royal University Hospital two days later.

McLeish, of Hazel Grove, Sydenham, also admitted wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm to Robert Small on October 10.

He was remanded in custody until Friday, December 15, when he will be sentenced. Psychiatric reports are being prepared.
