It is alleged the victim was confronted by boys who demanded he give them £2.50 in Beaver Lane, Ashford, just after 8pm on Friday.

He was then shot in the face with a replica air gun which can be used to fire either metal or plastic pellets. Fortunately he was not injured.

Two 15-year-olds and a 14-year-old boy, all from Ashford, were arrested on suspicion of robbery and have been released on bail while police investigate.

District Commander for Ashford, Ch Insp John Frayne said: “Incidents of this nature are very unusual and we are looking into the circumstances.”

“I would like to add a warning that using BB guns in public is extremely dangerous and being in possession of a firearm in public is an offence for which you could be arrested.”
