A TEENAGER who survived a car crash in which two of his friends died is recovering in hospital aware that he is lucky to be alive.

Kevin Moses, 17, was a back seat passenger in a red Peugoet 106 which spun out of control and ploughed into a tree at Valley Road, Barham, near Canterbury, last Wednesday night.

The driver, Ricky Jenkins, 17, and front seat passenger Chris Loomer, 16, both from Aylesham, were killed.

All three youngsters had studied at Sandwich Technology School were a minute's silence has been observed in memory of Ricky and Chris.

Their former head of year, Wendy Tutton, said Ricky and Chris would be sadly missed and stressed that school wished Kevin, also from Aylesham, a speedy recovery.

She added: "Ricky and Chris were lively, popular lads. Their deaths touched a lot of people and there were a lot of tears on Thursday.

"They had everything to live for and their deaths are absolutely tragic. It is a total waste of two young lives. A lot of the staff were moved to tears."

Mrs Tutton, who has visited Kevin in hospital added: "He realises what a lucky lad he is and is putting a brave face on it, but I am sure all his thoughts are with his two friends.

"At school all our thoughts are with the families. I can't imagine what they are going through."
