An 18-year-old who collapsed and later died after sheltering from a storm has been named by friends on Facebook as Kieron Bradford.

The ex-student of the Towers School collapsed and later died after he took shelter from heavy rain outside the school on Wednesday night.

The teenager is understood to have been sheltering from the downpour in the school grounds in Faversham Road, Kennington when he was taken ill.

It is believed he was with a friend who became concerned and called the emergency services.

Both police and an ambulance were called to the school at around 10.10pm.

The teenager is understood to have been taken to Ashford’s William Harvey Hospital, but sadly later died.

A statement from the school said a minute's silence was observed this morning, and students were being offered support.

The cause of his death is unknown, but it is not being treated as suspicious.
