Teenage driver hurt in two-car crash

A young motorist had to be cut free from her car after being involved in a rush hour accident.

A Ford Ka and a VW Polo collided at the junction between Hollywood Lane and Holly Road in Wainscott at about 8am today, Monday.

The 18-year-old female driver of the Ford Ka had suspected spinal injuries so she was cut free from the car by firefighters using specialist hydraulic cutting equipment.

Two crews from Strood and Medway fire stations took around 20 minutes to free the trapped casualty, who was then lifted onto a spinal board and taken to Medway Maritime Hospital.

The road was closed for a short time to allow the emerengecy crews to deal with the incident. The male driver of the other car was unhurt.
