Teenage boy punched during mobile phone theft

A 14-year-old boy was attacked and had his mobile phone stolen when he was targeted by a gang of youths in a Kent town.

The victim was walking home with a friend in Whitstable at around 11pm on Saturday when the incident took place.

He was approached by a group of around six youths at the junction of Warwick Road and Victoria Street.

He was asked for his phone and when the boy refused he was punched in the face by one of the gang, who was aged about 17 and wearing a green hooded top. The phone was then handed over.

The victim required hospital treatment for a cut to his mouth.
