Teen charged over police chase crash

A teenager has been charged after a policeman was injured when his patrol car crashed during a chase.

Jack Wayne Crittenden, 19, of Luton Road, Chatham, appeared before Medway magistrates this morning accused of aggravated vehicle taking.

Officers were called to reports a vehicle had been stolen from Luton Road, Chatham, just after midnight on Monday.

Police chased a vehicle, which the patrol car collided with in Deanwood Drive, Rainham.

The stolen car was later abandoned in Maidstone Road, Rainham.

Crittenden was arrested and has now been remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at Medway Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

The officer was taken to hospital with suspected whiplash.
