Girl beaten unconscious in ‘vicious’ Canterbury high street attack outside Poundland

A teenage girl was taken to hospital after reportedly being beaten unconscious in a “vicious” high street attack.

The youngster was headbutted and punched to the ground in St George’s Street, Canterbury, by another girl before being kicked, according to an eyewitness.

Police say they received reports the teen had been assaulted by two girls.

The witness, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “It was a very furious attack.

“A teenage girl got headbutted and punched outside Poundland by another teenage girl.

“She fell to the ground unconscious and then got kicked in the head repeatedly and stamped on at least 10 times whilst out cold.”

The incident occurred on Saturday, July 22, at about 7.30pm in St George’s Street.

A police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called to a report that a teenage girl had been assaulted by two other teenage girls.

“Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and the girl was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and anyone with information should call Kent Police on 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/131083/23.”
