A police taser unit and helicopter were scrambled to a home following reports of an assault.

The call came in at 1.30pm on Boxing Day - but details have only just been released.

The police unit - and 15 minutes later the Kent Air Ambulance chopper - were joined by ground ambulance crew at Quinton Road, Sittingbourne.

It was thought a man in his 'thirties had barricaded himself into a property there.

After a short while, he was removed and assessed by the medical team before being flown to Medway Maritime Hospital for treatment.

Kent Police confirmed that a 31-year-old man was taken to hospital and tasers were not used.
