Taser fired in Margate bar arrest

A taser was fired as two police officers were allegedly beaten up outside a nightspot.

The incident apparently happened outside the Purple Bar in Elephant Hill, Margate, yesterday at around 1.20am.

Officers had been called to assist door staff at the premises and arrested 23-year-old Farzad Taky.

But two officers allegedly suffered cuts and brusing to their heads and faces as he was taken into custody.

They were taken to the QEQM Hospital for checks, but not kept in.

Taky, of Fulham Avenue, Margate, is due to appear before magistrates in the town today in connection with the incident.

He is charged with assaulting two police officers with the intent of resisting arrest.

A Kent Police spokesman said a taser was discharged in the incident.
