MORE than 40 firefighters were drafted in from across the county to tackle a blaze at a disused Kent nightclub.

Flames were first spotted at the Deja Vu club in London Road, Swanley, at 4.50pm on Wednesday.

Police are treating the fire as suspicious. Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 01732 379217 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Frefighters from Swanley Fire Station responded first, but immediately requested back-up.

According to watch manager Brian Vinton, the fire started on the first floor.

"We just had to put water in there until we could get more resources near," he added.

No people needed to be rescued.
