Steady start for Spitfires

KENT were given a decent start to their second totesport League clash of the summer at Old Trafford.

Batting first against an impressive-looking Lancashire side, Kent reached 37 without loss after 10 of their 45 overs against the experienced opening attack of Dominic Cork and Glen Chapple.

Rob Key (28) had hit the first three boundaries of the game to date when he danced down the pitch to clip through mid-wicket against Cork.

Then, in Cork's next over, he drove through point and clipped to fine leg to up the run-rate.

Kent made just one change to the side that beat Gloucestershire last weekend as Andrew Symonds came in at the expense of Michael Carberry.
