Stabbing victim fights for life

A MAN is fighting for his life after being stabbed several times yesterday afternoon.

The injured man, who has not been named by police, was repeatedly stabbed at a house in Bodiam Close, Twydall, Gillingham.

The victim, who is in his early 40s, was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital by paramedics after a neighbour heard a commotion and called for assistance from the emergency services.

Police cordoned off the scene, including a large area of nearby Goudhurst Road, near t0he Royal Engineers’ pub, while officers carried out their investigations.

The injured man underwent emergency surgery to save his life and he is now said to be in a "serious but stable condition". Officers were still at the scene this morning.

One shocked resident who didn’t want to be named said: "All the parents on the estate were calling their sons and daughters on their mobiles to see if they were OK and told them to come home as quickly as possible.

"It’s very worrying, things just seem to be getting worse around here."

A spokesman for Medway Police said: "We were called to an address in Twydall yesterday at 4.26pm, where officers discovered a 42-year-old man had been stabbed.

"The man was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital with injuries which were considered life threatening. He has undergone surgery and his condition remains serious but stable. Police in Medway are still making inquiries to locate the offender."
