A 58-year-old managing director has been jailed for four months after being flashed by safety cameras 11 times in nine months.

Brian Beaton, of Lyndhurst Avenue, Rainham, activated the speed cameras in the Medway area between May 2005 and January 2006. He was even photographed waving and smiling at the cameras.

But inquiry officers at the Kent & Medway Safety Camera Partnership traced the vehicle and its owner, Beaton, who was subsequently arrested.

Beaton had been displaying false registration plates and was charged with perverting the course of justice. He pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court.
