Smoker stabbed outside his home

A 31-year-old man received a minor stab wound in an incident outside his home involving a young stranger.

The victim had gone outside to have a cigarette when he saw the man leaning against the front wall of his property in Slade Close, Chatham.

He approached the man and asked him to move away. At that point an argument started and the unknown man lunged at him, delivering a blow to his stomach.

As stranger ran off down Dargates Road, the The victim realised that he had been stabbed, went back inside and called the police.

He was taken by ambulance to Gillingham's Medway Maritime Hospital where he received treatment for the stab wound. The incident happened on Saturday, November 19, between 10.30pm and 11pm.

His assailant is described as between being aged between 16-20 and white. He was wearing a dark hoody top, white T-shirt and dark bottoms. He was carrying a carrier bag containing tins or cans.
