Smash and grab at electrical store

A 42-inch flat screen Sony television valued at £3,500 was stolen early today in a smash and grab raid at the Thornton Bobby electrical shop in Cliftonville, near Margate.

Damaged estimated at up to £3,000 was caused to two other televisions during the break-in that happened shortly after midnight. The cost to replace the window is thought to be £2,000.

Witnesses reported seeing two men in the area at the time. One was empty handed and the other was carrying a television.

They walked into Prices Avenue, Cliftonville, where they got into an old-style Volkswagen Golf and drove off. Both men were between 5ft 5in and 5ft 9in tall and in their twenties. They both wore grey or light coloured tops, tracksuit bottoms and trainers.

Police officers are checking CCTV footage and are keen to hear from any witnesses who are asked to telephone 01843 231055.
