Reggae and rock fans are in for a treat this summer when Skindred and Panic Cell perform at Margate's Westcoast Bar.

Skindred were formed in 1998 from the ashes of Dub War by vocalist Benji Webbe. In 2002, the band released its debut album Babylon and in 2007 they released their second album Roots Rock Riot.

Since the formation of Skindred they have been thrilling audiences all over the world with their sound, which is a fusion of dub, punk and metal.

Thanet fans get the chance to see them when they headline the King Street venue on Sunday, August 9.

It will be the only chance to see this band at such an intimate venue, as all their other 2009 shows are in much larger places.

Frontman Luke Bell will be on home territory as he lives in Ramsgate.

There are three other bands on the bill for this show, including the winner of the Metal Battle Of The Bands competition that has been taking place at the Westcoast for a few months now (the final takes place at the Westcoast on Friday, July 24).

Doors open at 3pm and Skindred will be on stage at 8.30pm which will allow people using public transport to get home on the night.
