Skeleton discovered in woodland

DETECTIVES have launched an investigation after the remains of a skeleton and clothing were found in woodland.

Kent Police officers were alerted after the discovery was made near Whitstable on Monday morning.

A police spokesman said: "The death is being treated as unexplained and there is no evidence at this time to indicate that the cause is suspicious. The coroner has been informed.

"The discovery was made by a man out shooting pigeons in an isolated area on the edge of Clowes Wood."

Police enquiries are continuing and a post mortem examination is being requested.
