An industrial estate was evacuated for almost two hours amid a gas cylinder alert.

A 220-yard exclusion zone was thrown around Sittingbourne's Eurolink Industrial Estate while firefighters tackled an acetylene cylinder alight in a workshop.

Kent Police cordoned off the area as a precaution at about 9am.

Castle Road was closed at Hurd Way to Bonham Drive.

The safety zone was lifted at about 10.50am and people were allowed to return to their businesses.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service said crews managed to cool down the cylinder.
