Siblings excel in sporting hobbies

A BROTHER and sister fascinated since early childhood by, respectively, cycle racing and roller skating, have each been selected to represent Britain in their chosen sports this year.

Alex Aldham-Breary, 12, of Mermaid Close, Waldersalde, a pupil at Rochester Math School, has been selected for the British Schools' Cycling Squad touring Holland - his second successive appearance in the squad.

His 10-year-old sister, Emma, has been selected for the British Roller Skating squad touring Croatia this summer.

Their father, electronics firm sales manager Mr Ian Aldham-Breary, 45, said: "My wife, Karen, and I are incredibly proud of Emma's and Alex's achievements in what amount to minority sports which have fascinated them since early childhood.

"They are variously training or competing up and down the country so much between school and homework, that we must be clocking-up thousands of miles a year enabling them to enjoy their sporting hobbies. I have to say, though, that it is all worth it."
