A former Canterbury City councillor is facing a jail sentence after admitting a string of sex offences.

Conservative Martin Fisher, who had represented the Tankerton ward, has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a child under 13 and indecent assault on a woman.

He had admitted 20 charges of downloading child pornography at an earlier hearing at Canterbury Crown Court.

Fisher, of Queens Road, Tankerton has now also admitted five sexual assaults, including three on a child under 13 .

Other sex offences, which he has denied, have been ordered to remain on the file.

He was remanded on bail for a month pending probation reports, but prohibited from accessing the Internet or travelling abroad.

Fisher, 60, who had a lettings business in Sittingbourne, will now be sentenced on July 22.

Judge Adele Williams told him: "The fact I have ordered a pre-sentence report does not mean I won't send you to prison on the next occasion. These are serious offences."
