A second man has been arrested and bailed in connection with an attack on a Medway couple.

The 20-year old, from Chatham, was questioned at Medway Police Station on Wednesday following an alleged incident outside the King Charles Hotel, Brompton last month.

He was later released on police bail pending further enquiries and is due back at Medway Police Station on May 12. A 22-year old from Gillingham has also been bailed to the same date.

The Medway Messenger reported how Tony Porter, 23, and his pregnant partner Lianne York, 26, were walking toward the hotel when they were confronted by two men between 10.30pm and 11pm on Saturday, March 28.

Mr Porter was forced to hand over his wallet, which contained £65 and his mobile phone was also taken.

He didn’t suffer serious injuries but had grazing to his elbow and hands and bruising to his ribs.

One of the attackers also threatened to make Miss Yorke bleed when she told them she was pregnant.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses or anyone with information about the reported crime.

The couple described two suspects. One was of medium build and wearing a white hooded top.

The other man was of slim build, had a chunky metal chain around his neck and wire a blue or black jumper with a pattern on the front and dark trousers. He had shaved hair with various distinctive scars on his head, one of which was at the front of his head near the hairline. Both were aged between 18 and 23.
