Schoolgirls injured crossing road

TWO girls were injured today when they were involved in an accident with a car while on their way to school.

The girls are thought to have been crossing the busy road near the Texaco garage in Watling Street, Strood, just after 8.30am when the accident happened.

The girls were taken to Gillingham's Medway Maritime Hospital for treatment along with a third casualty, who is thought to have been in the car at the time of the collision.

A spokesman for Medway Police said: "I can confirm two females were involved in the crash. It is not thought their injuries are life threatening."
