School closed after overnight break-in

TWO men have been arrested in connection with a break-in at a Medway primary school.

Police were called to New Road Primary School, Chatham, at about 8pm last night after a caretaker saw lights on in the building.

Officers arrested two men found on the premises, and they remain in police custody. Police say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

A number of electrical items were taken in the raid, but have since been recovered. Damage was also caused throughout the school.

All pupils were given the day off today as police continue their investigations.

Headteacher, Jan Perry said "It's awful as everyone works so hard to give the best to the children."
