School blaze student suspended

A STUDENT at Angley School at Cranbrook has been suspended from lessons after he deliberately started a fire in the boys' toilets.

The school was evacuated after smoke was spotted coming from the toilets in the main block. Firefighters were called and quickly extinguished a small fire in a plastic toilet roll holder.

The incident happened last Friday. School manager Jim Parkinson said: "Fortunately no-one was injured and lessons were quickly resumed."

The school is carrying out an investigation into the incident and a decision on the future of the Year 8 pupil will be made next week.
