THE maidens have bowled over the players at a Kent village cricket club by stripping to their underwear for a fund-raising calendar.

Twelve players’ wives and girlfriends, aged between 28 and 60, posed for the Pembury Cricket Club calendar - but all in the best possible taste.

The calendar features the women in various poses at the club ground, from changing the score card, to making the tea, serving drinks and posing on the wicket.

Heather Purdy, who poses on the August page, said the idea came from her husband, Gary, who dared her to do it about a year ago.

“We all wore lacy bits and pieces and certainly no one was naked,” she said. “We just got a bottle of champagne and went up to the cricket ground, just us and a photographer, and had quite a laugh.”

The 2004 calendar, which costs £8, has already gone on sale and 60 were sold in a fortnight, raising £500 for the club and the Hospice in the Weald.
