Safe bike rides for the family

FAMILIES are being encouraged to get on their bikes during the summer holidays and enjoy the Kent countryside.

Sustrans, the sustainable transport charity, says there are plenty of traffic-free routes which make ideal venues for a day out.

These include the Viking Coastal Trail, which takes in Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate, and the Crab and Winkle Way, between Canterbury and Whitstable.

David Young, Sustrans co-ordinator said: "Our routes are suitable for families with children as well as the less able."
