A 46-year-old man appeared before Medway magistrates at Chatham today charged with abduction and eight other offences.

David Milner, of Victoria Street, Gillingham, spoke only to confirm his name, age and address.

Mr Milner, a father-of-three, was found in the early hours of Monday in the Scottish Highlands with a 14-year-old Gillingham schoolgirl.

He will make another court appearance next Tuesday via video link from Elmley prison near Eastchurch on the Isle of Sheppey.

Mr Milner was charged yesterday after being brought back to the Medway Towns by police.
