Romney Marsh teenager killed in East Sussex accident

A teenager from Romney Marsh was hit and killed by another driver as he got out of his car in the early hours on Saturday.

The 19-year-old man was exiting his Ford Escort in New Winchelsea Road, Rye, East Sussex, when he was struck by a grey Fiat Punto travelling west at 2.20am.

The teenager, who has not been named, died at the scene. The 22-year-old Punto driver, who was from St Leonard's on Sea, East Sussex, was unharmed.

Sussex Police closed the busy road, part of the A259, for four hours to examine the scene.
