POLICE have been carrying out road checks in the county in connection with an alleged abduction.

Officers were in Church Lane and Duck Lane in Shadoxhurst, near Ashford, on Wednesday speaking to motorists and pedestrians.

The alleged incident is said to have happened on March 15.

Armed officers, dog handlers and a police helicopter were at the scene.

Det Ch Insp Jon Bumpus said: "We ask that anyone with any information, no matter how small they believe it is, to come forward.

"Did you see anything suspicious in the Shadoxhurst area at the time, which you may have dismissed as being slightly unusual? This may be connected and could help with out investigation."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Kent Police on 01303 289 600. Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers, free and confidentially, on 0800 555 111.
