Rescue services free teenager trapped in mud

A 14-year-old boy had to be rescued from mud by firefighters on Saturday afternoon.

The boy was trapped up to his knees at the bottom of a cliff at Warden Bay, Sheppey.

Sheppey Fire and Rescue lowered themselves down the cliff and free the boy.

Crews spent about an hour at the scene and the boy was treated by an ambulance crew for suspected hypothermia and later taken to Medway Maritime Hospital.

It is believed a friend who was with him made the 999 call at 2.30pm from his mobile.
