Rape suspect 'Dave' hunted

Police are hunting a rapist today after a man was attacked in woods by someone possibly called Dave.

Officers were alerted when a 23-year-old reported an allegation of serious sexual assault at 4.45pm yesterday.

The victim, from the local area, said he'd been raped by someone he knew in woods running adjacent to Forrester Close and Brymore Road in Northgate, Canterbury.

Officers are now appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to come forward.

The suspect is described as a white male, 6ft tall, 30 to 35-years-old with short dark hair and a Liverpool accent.

He was wearing dark jeans, dark trainers and a light coloured top. Officers said he may be called Dave.

Officers conducted house-to-house enquiries and are continuing to investigate this incident.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "Investigators are keen to reassure the public that this is not being treated as a stranger rape and there haven't been any similar incidents reported to police in the area."

Anyone who has any information should call police on 01622 690 690 and ask for Detective Sergeant Kath Way.
