A taxi driver will go on trial accused of two rapes at an address in Ramsgate.

David Stirrups, of Whitfield Avenue, Broadstairs, was remanded in custody yesterday.

It follows an alleged incident on May 8, which was reported two days later by the friend of a Ramsgate woman in her 30s.

Mr Stirrups was arrested at his home the following morning by officers from Kent Police's major crime department.

He has also been charged with one count of indecent assault following an incident in Ramsgate in the early hours of April 10.

Mr Stirrups' trial start date was set at Canterbury Crown Court for November 16.
