Rainham High Street suffers two days of power cuts

Power supplies have again been interrupted to EDF customers in Rainham.

Yesterday some customers in the High Street went almost 12 hours without light or heating after a fault on an underground cable, which occured at 6.41am.

All customers were re-connected at 4.45pm.

But at 6.20pm last night supplies were again disrupted.

EDF are in the process of carrying out an investigation into whether the problems are linked.

A spokesman for EDF said they were unable to confirm whether the 10 customers affected since last night were also hit yesterday.

The spokesman added: "We will be working to restore supplies as quickly and as safely as possible.

"We appreciate how difficult it is to be without power, especially at this time of year and apologise for the inconvenience caused by this incident."

In total, 28 homes and businesses in Rainham High Street were affected by Monday's blackout.

Some customers were re-connected at 11.55am while others finally got power at 4.45pm.

An underground cable was blamed for the fault.
