Dartford: QEII Bridge lanes to close for maintenance

Drivers using the QEII bridge have been warned of bridge and lane closures this week, as work is carried out.

The bridge will be closed from 10pm tonight until 5.30am tomorrow, and again through the same hours tomorrow.

For the rest of the week, delays could be felt as alternate lanes of the tunnel are shut.

During closures of the QEII Bridge, a fully signed diversion will be in place via the east tunnel.

The following closures will be in force:

  • Tuesday, January 3 (10pm to 5.30am) southbound/QEII Bridge

  • Wednesday, January 4 (10pm to 5.30am) southbound/QEII Bridge

  • Thursday, January 5 (8.30pm to 5.30am) northbound/east tunnel

  • Friday, January 6 (9pm to 5.30am) northbound/east tunnel

  • Saturday, January 7 (9pm to 5.30am) northbound/west tunnel

  • Sunday, January 8 (8.30pm to 5.30am) northbound/west tunnel

Meanwhile, the QEII Bridge will have three (of four) lanes closed overnight, between 10pm and 5.30am, from Thursday for two nights, with work on Friday starting at 11pm.

Highways England also have the following planned roadworks in Kent this week:

Work to carry out electrical repairs will be done on the M25 junction 5 (M26).

The anti-clockwise carriageway between the slip roads will be closed overnight, between 10pm and 5am on Wednesday, January 4.

A signed diversion will be in place via the M26, A21, A25 and return.

Tunnel maintenance will be carried out on the A282 junction 1a Swanscombe this week.

The northbound entry slip road will be closed overnight, between 8.30pm and 5.30am, on Wednesday, January 4, and between 9pm and 5.30am on Saturday, January 7 and between 8.30pm and 5.30am on Sunday, January 8.

A signed diversion will be in place via the A282 southbound to junction 1b and return.
